He's 84, suffers from dementia, angina, and diabetes. He's had two heart attacks before and today I discovered that he suffers from seizures but as far as I know he doesn't have an epileptic condition. He had two in the space of ten minutes while I was there visiting my nan and grandad, and one this morning. Apparently he also had one earlier this week, and it seems to be a regular occurrence. I was so shocked to witness this. He doesn't drink enough fluids and my dad suggested that he might need to go on a drip and get some glucose added to his system.

I made my nan call an ambulance and I've just heard they've taken him to hospital. I don't think he's going to live much longer.

Can anyone maybe suggest what might be the cause of these seizures?

He is on multiple different medications already and I think maybe he needs a complete re-assessment of what he is being prescribed.

Within a few minutes he seemed back to normal, but he kept complaining of a "burning" and "buzzing" going round his head, and said it felt like a motorbike was inside his body. He's just so fragile these days. It's upsetting as he used to be such a strong and vibrant man.

I had seizures about a month ago. I don't have epilepsy. I did research online and found out mine were from a bad medicine combo. I found this out when I was looking around, maybe it'll help.

He's in the hospital now. They are keeping him there for a couple of days, and they said it's because he was having fluctuations in heartbeat and has low blood pressure. That meant he wasn't getting enough oxygen to the brain and this has probably also been making his dementia worse by making him confused and unaware.

The doctors might be fitting him with a pacemaker (either temporary or permanent) to control his heartbeat, and they have given him some medication to raise his blood pressure. I hope he'll be okay now.

Thanks for the reply.

No problem. It sounds like he's in good hands. Keep me posted on how he's doing. (If you get a chance)
