An American Helicopter that was participating in joint military maneuvers in Southern Morocco crashed in the Daraa river, 880 kilometres (545 miles) from Rabat, Youssef Outmane, editor-in-chief of the Casablanca-based Radio Plus told Morocco Word News.
All those on board escaped with only three wounded and with nobody injured on the ground, but a state of panic was visible among those involved in the crash. The wounded have airlifted to the military hospital in Rabat.
The same sources told Morocco World News that tough weather conditions in Koulmim and Tan Tan in southern Morocco might have caused the crash.
The helicopter was participating in the annual African Lion exercise between Morocco?s Royal Armed Forces and the U.S. military that started earlier this month.
A senior delegation from the U.S. military is due to visit the region.
